A special Father's Day for my beloved husband David. Now, a father of four. It still seems so hard to believe we are really done with our adoption process. People keep asking me that question "so, you are done now, right? they are really yours." and I still pause and then remember, "yes, we are!".
For Father's day this year we made hand and footprint booklets for Daddy and gave them to him at his favorite restaurant--Babbin's. It was our first time to eat out at a restaurant with all 6 of us and I am delighted to say that it went very well. The kids sat and colored and waited patiently for their food--even J.Michael :) It was such a blessing to fill up the "big" booth. We did get noticed when Andrew starting talking in Russian to the waiter followed by looking at me and saying "Momma" but it was great to share our story. Soon, we had drawn a bit of a crowd of people working at the restaurant who wanted to meet the kids and know more about our adoption. We were so glad to have the opportunity to testify to what the Lord has done to expand our family through adoption. Andrew and Kathlena both loved the cajun food. They had calamari and crawfish and loved it, but then it was fried how can you not love it! Andrew really loves the spicy foods...he fans his mouth and drinks gallons of water but asks for more.
David and I are also very blessed to have both of our Father's to celebrate Father's Day. They both are a tremendous blessing and influence in our lives and the lives of our children. Father's Day was also a bittersweet day as it was another first, the first without my grandfather Davis(My Dad's Dad). We miss him and honor him this day for the years of influence he had on us and his great-grandchildren. I know he would have loved to have taken Andrew and Kathlena for tractor rides and taught them about farming. The days pass so quickly--DoDad and PawPaw we are grateful for your love and wisdom in our lives. Hope to see you both soon.
